World Facts Packet Update!
I have added more than 25 new pages of World Landmark and Topographic Map Activities to the World Facts Packet! This packet covers many of the basic world facts I wanted my kids to know such as the largest countries, population facts, the major world religions, as well as geography terms such as gulf, bay, atoll, peninsula, cape, estuary, isthmus and so forth. There is a huge section on the landmarks of the world. The 125+page World Facts Packet also includes some activities on the deserts of the world and topographic maps.
This is a really great packet for any age! I started covering many of these activities when my kids were in elementary and my high schooler wants to review this material right now! The games and hands-on activities made it really fun when my kids were little, but this is information that needs review from time to time. Who doesn’t need a refresher on where the Gobi Desert is located? Or, who doesn’t forget the difference between a bay and a gulf or what exactly an archipelago or estuary is?!!
World Landmark Activities
I added in a new section on the world landmarks. This includes some worksheets, but also include some cut-and-paste map activities as you see above. I also added in a “I have, who has?” game to help kids review the names of many of these famous sites.
These new activities complement the World Landmark material already in the World Facts Packet. Let me give you a quick preview of those again as well. Those also include worksheets as well as 3-part cards.
As you can see, there is a World Landmark Bingo game included as well. My kids really enjoyed playing that!!
World Facts Packet
When we start off the new school year, I want the kids to go over some basic world facts again (though to be honest, this year we’re doing it mid-semester!) Do they remember…
- What are the four largest countries? (Russia, Canada, the U.S.A., China)
- What countries have the most people? (China, India, the U.S.A.)
- What are the world’s largest cities? (Tokyo, Delhi, Shanghai)
- Which countries have the longest life expectancy? (Monaco, Singapore Macau & Japan)
- What are the major religions?
The packet has information about population growth. When did the world hit 1 billion, 2, billion, 3 billion… up to its current 8+billion population size? The kids have to sort the dates and will see how while we reached a population of 1 billion in 1804, we quickly grew from 4 billion (1974), 5 billion (1987), 6 billion (1999), 7 billion (2011) and 8 Billion in November 2022! Wow!!
Geographic Features and Landform Terms
This packet also includes geography terms such as such as strait, isthmus, canyon, peninsula, atoll, archipelago, and so forth.
There are also pages that can be used with younger kids that include tracing and coloring. Another is an identify the landform worksheet and there are also two options that can be used for interactive notebooks/lapbooks if your family enjoys making those (one colored option and one black/white).
Here are just a few more pictures of the geographic features materials. You can also see the page for learning the deserts of the world.
Topographic Map Activities
The final section includes some worksheets and activities to learn about Topographic Maps. I added in a number of new pages in this section as well.
Our World Facts Packet is now 125+ pages (including answer pages). This packet is $6.99.
