L-Blend Worksheets, Games and Activities
This is the first in a series of three Consonant Blends Activity Packets. This set focuses on the L-Blends such as bl, cl, gl, fl and pl. There are practice worksheets that include tracing, write in the consonant blends (bl, cl, fl, gl or pl), write in the words, and cut-and-paste activities. There are consonant blend sorting cards and a sorting mat. Plus, your kids can then use these cards to play a board game and to play consonant blend bingo! 🙂 My kids always loved different games and activities and would beg to play more! I found that it was a wonderful way to keep them engaged!
The second 2 sets include R-Blend and S-Blend Worksheets and Activities. More about those below!
These are all consonant blends used at the beginning of a word. They include words such as
BL: blimp, blender, blood, block, blanket blueberries
CL: clock, clown, clam, claw, clothes, cloud
FL: flat, flip flops, flame, flag, flashlight, flower
GL: glider, glass, globe, glasses, gloves, glue
PL: plant, plug, planet, plane, plate, plumber

How to Play the L-Blend Board Game:
Place all the game cards face down in a pile. Players take turns picking up a card. They say the word aloud and determine which L-blend is being used. They then move their token to the next space on the board with that beginning sound (or if they chose a wild card, follow the directions on the board). Then the next player takes a turn. The first player to land on the final space wins the game!
L-Blend Bingo Game:
Print out the bingo cards (laminate and use a dry-erase marker or cover the squares with tokens). Shuffle the game cards (but remove all the wild cards!). Each player takes a turn turning over a card and identifying the L-blend. ALL players all chose ONE of these blend spaces and marks it off of their bingo card. The first player to get one row covered wins! (You can make it harder by having the players mark off two rows before calling out bingo!)
This L-Blend Packet is about 20 pages. The R-Blend Packet is 30+ pages. The S-Blend Packet is 40+ pages.
