St. Patrick’s Day Subtraction Games
I have just added the next seasonal set to the Addition Bundle! This is a set of St. Patrick’s Day Subtraction Games. You can print them out in either color or black & white (or a combination)!
The first (easy) game has subtraction problems with answers of 2, 3 or 4. For example,
- 5-3=
- 8-5= or
- 10-6=
The second (challenging) game has problems with answers of 6, 7, 8 or 9, such as:
- 14-8=
- 16-9=
- 13-5=
- 18-9=
Print out the game board and cards that you want your child to practice. I suggest that you print them out on card stock. Laminate for durability. (I never bothered to laminate for my kids, but if you are in a classroom setting you may want to.)
Cut out the problem cards.
Shuffle the cards well and place them face down in a pile.
Each player needs a token to move around the game board.
How to play:
Begin the game on the “START” space. The first player picks up a card & solves it. He/she then moves his/her token to the first space with that number. For example, if he/she picked a 9-7= card, then he or she would move to the first available space with a 2 on it. If that space has a lucky coin, then the player gets to go again!
Then, the next player draws a card, solves the problem and moves to the first available space with that number.
The first player to land on the “WIN” space, wins the game!
Sorting Mat Activity:
Have the student shuffle the cards well. Then have them sort the cards onto the space with the correct answer.
Practice Pages:
There are 2 sets of practice worksheets (2 pages for the “easy” problems and 2 pages for the “challenging” problems).
