You may find LiveMocha or Busuu helpful as well. Both are free and are really great for learning languages.

Thanks Mindy! As it turns out, we’ve really only worked on German in the car this semester. (We’re having to go to the doctor’s twice a week for my son’s allergy shots — and so we’re spending a lot of time in the car as it’s a 30 minute drive each way.) I’ll keep these in mind for later, though. Thanks for mentioning them. I bet others might find these useful too.

Hi there! enjoyed reading your blog and appreciate you sharing your ideas. It can be quite a challenge finding good materials for kids. I hope you don’t mind a little correction from a native German speaker. It’s “Entschuldigen Sie” (-en ending), not “Entschuldigung Sie”. Entschuldigen is the verb, Entschuldigung is the noun 🙂
Thanks again for sharing. Have a great day. God bless you for homeschooling your kids! Renate

Thank you, Renate!! Of course I welcome the correction and appreciate it! As soon as you say that I know you’re right. 🙂
Thanks too for the links to islcollective. Others might want to follow that as well as this post gets quite a bit of traffic.
My sister also sent me a new link being created by someone trying to help with the refugee crisis in German (from what I understand) by creating materials for learning German. I hope to share those soon because they are another great resource for German language learners.
      Warmly,
      Liesl
