Here is a set of worksheets I made for the kids as we learned a bit about Islam. This might also be helpful if you are doing an introduction to world religions.  You...

Capitalization Review

Once again the kids did a quick review sheet to go over capitalization rules.  I wrote out a paragraph about the author of The Hobbit and the kids had to find all the letters that should have been capitalized. I also went over some of the rules of capitalization and had the kids give examples (of a city, state, the name of a lake, and so forth). Although I don’t show...

Valentine’s Bump Game Doubling Practice 4

Valentine’s Bump Game — Doubling (Addition)

Doubling Practice – Games and Worksheets I made a Valentine’s Day Bump Game for my daughter who is still learning her addition (doubling) facts.  We worked on these and from there we’ll move on doubling higher numbers 7 through 10s.  After that, we’ll work for a while on “what comes after” and then go on to problems like 6+7. This is a game to practice doubling (1+1, 2+2, etc.).  To...

Today, I thought I’d first share a couple of the games I made for the kids for Valentine’s Day since it’s quickly approaching.  These games are free to download. 🙂 The first set are multiplication worksheets and game boards to practice the 4s and 6s times tables. **DD only started working on these today (Monday) and I saw there was an error on her paper.  I corrected it and re-posted the...

Where Do Things Come From 4

Farm Animals (Montessori Activities and More)

After our study of earthworms and flatworms, we went back to talking about vertebrates.  One day last week, we learned a bit more about domesticated animals. We talked about some pretty fascinating things with DD and LD. Can you guess out of the millions of animal species how many large animals have been successfully domesticated? I’ll tell you in just a minute below! For ED we pulled in a few Montessori...

Spelling: Free Review Sheet (er, ur or ir); Long O Word Sort

I made this spelling review sheet for the /er/ sound. We use All About Spelling Program (affiliate link) (which we love, love, love!) and this goes along with several of the lessons from books 2 and 3. Spelling has never come naturally to LD in particular, so he needs a bit more review from time to time. Feel free to download this for your child/students! Spelling: sound /er/ — er...

Equivalent Fraction Cards (Pokemon Theme)

I made a set of equivalent fraction cards.  LD has to figure out the correct answer and then moves that many spaces on our homemade Fast Track Gameboard. You can download these Equivalent Fraction Cards (pokemon-theme) here. They are free to download. 🙂 We made our own gameboard years ago and still have it tucked in the corner to pull out!  This was an idea I got from the wonderful book, Games for...

German Worksheets (free) and Our Plans for Learning German this Semester

Last semester, we spent time reading simple stories together in German.  There are a couple of stories we downloaded from Amazon, Peter und das Huhn and Der Kartoffel-troll.  We read them aloud together and I had the kids do a few activities related to those stories. Peter und das Huhn ($0.99) is considerably easier than any of the stories in Der Kartoffeltroll ($1.50), but the kids enjoyed them both. We still regularly read...

More Irregular Verb and Plural Noun Practice Sheets

I introduced irregular verbs and nouns to the kids last week, but it was clear they could use a bit more practice. Here’s another sheet I made for them.
