Learning about Hinduism – Hindu Gods and Goddesses

Last week I shared the Free India Learning Packet. We’ve covered some basic facts and geography about India from that set and read about Ancient India in several of the books we’re using (Story of the World, Kingfisher Encyclopedia, etc.).  Now that we covered some of the background about the ancient Indus Valley region, it was time to delve into some background about Hinduism.

For the next couple of weeks, we’ll be reading lots and lots of stories about the gods and goddesses of Hinduism. Our local library has a lot of classic Indian stories for children and we’ll be making our way through those. This is a worksheet pack I made for the kids for their history notebooks which covers a few of the major Hindu gods and goddesses.  And although I didn’t show it in the photo collage below, I included the answers. I also included a list of all the children’s books we’ll be reading (in the photo below):

Here are some of the books we’ll be reading during the next couple of weeks:

Often while I read books, the kids will color or draw.  This website has some nice coloring pages of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Another good website for Hindu gods and goddesses coloring pages is here:
