Second Suite in F was composed around 1905. It is based on English folk songs.

The song “Shenandoah” appears to have originated with American and Canadian fur traders traveling down the Missouri River in canoes.

Fiddler on the Roof

Fiddler on the Roof is set in a village, a Russian shtetl of Anatevka. A shtetl was a small town with a large Ashkenazi Jewish population which existed in Eastern Europe before the Holocaust.
