Valentine’s Day Bump Game — Division

Can you believe how quickly Valentine’s Day is approaching?  Here’s a game I made to practice division.  These games are free to download. 🙂

To Play:

  1. The first player draws a division card.  She determines the answer and places a token on the heart.
  2.  If another player has a token on the heart, the player can bump the other player’s token off and replace it with her own token.
  3. When a player has two tokens on a heart, she has won that heart.
  4. The player who has the most hearts at the end of the game wins.

I also made some basic division cards to go with this game. Cut them out and shuffle well before playing.  You can also use cards that you have on hand.

A few years ago, I made division cards for LD to play with our Fast Track board game, an idea we got from Peggy Kaye’s Games for Math: Playful Ways to Help Your Child Learn Math, From Kindergarten to Third Grade (affiliate link)

To make the board you need a large piece of butcher paper or poster board. There are three win spaces, three start spaces and various directions on the other spaces such as stay put, move ahead three, double move, triple move, go back 1 space, lose a turn and so forth. Each player takes a turn turning over a card and solving the problem. He/she moves ahead that many spaces and follows the directions on the space. For example, if he moves ahead 10 and lands on a double move space, then he gets to take another card and go again. The first player to land on a “win” space wins the game.
