Things to do with the Kids This Summer

Can you believe it? Summer time is almost here. My friend’s kids get out of school this week!  Our family is busy working out our summer plans.  We plan to do several road trips and are trying to find fun (and educational) things to do with the kids this summer.  We’ll be heading to Arkansas and Missouri, for example, and plan to visit Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Mammoth Springs among other things. We’re also hoping to do a trip out to Ohio to see an outdoor drama later this summer.  Hubby and I brainstormed and came up with a list of some of the summer time fun activities we’d like to do. We’ll see how much will get crossed off, but it’s fun to have a bucket list, right?!  Here’s our summer list of things to do if you’re interested.

In case you don’t know AMF bowling issues free passes to kids (you have to pay for shoe rentals) in the summer. Your local roller skating rink might also have specials during the summer (ours has a pass that allows for unlimited roller skating for a set price).  Be sure to google “Free Kids Event is [your town]” or “Free Children’s Activities in [your town]” and you’re sure to get a huge selection of fun things to do with your kids.

What do you have planned with the kids this summer?

    Sky Writing

This is my favorite way to keep my kids up on math and spend time together. I make a poster for the ceiling (posted on my site under Sky Writing), I post it above the bed . Using cheap laser lights we play tons of games. I have noticed they are able to do more mental math and use more math vocabulary since we started. Not to mention… they love it!
